ANEMONE PULSATILLA VULGARIS
Violet, anemone-like blooms appear on thick stems in April before foliage appears. Flowers vary from blue to reddish purple and have a bushy center clump of yellow stamens. As the flowers fade, a mound of fern-like, gray-green leaves appear. Good drainage is essential. Plants need consistent moisture in hot summer climates such as the St. Louis area.
Anemone pulsatilla is synonymous with Pulsatilla vulgaris.
